RAW acaí bowls

Acai bowls are definitely what have nourished us through this winter! We eat acaí bowls for breakfast every morning no exceptions, even when it is absolutely freezing cause they are just that good.

I swear we’ve eaten every acai bowl on the coast too and we’re sooo particular, so we eventually started making our own and now that we bought a vitamix there’s no excuse not to.

We like our bowls flavourful, creamy, smooth, sweet, chewy and crunchy. Also we like our bowls raw and neither one of us like nuts and so here it is: our creation. It is highly addictive.

Base: (Serves 2)

  • 6 frozen bananas
  • 250G blueberries
  • 1 frozen acai packet
  • 500-750ml water (coconut water, cold pressed apple juice and raw nut milks are really good too)
  • 1 tbsp spirulina powder
  • 1 tbsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp mesquite powder

We occasionally use cacao instead of maca and mesquite or add lucuma as well. They’re all really good. The cacao is quite rich though.

Method:

Add bananas, blueberries, acai and water blend till smooth then add powders and blend until mixed.

Top it with whatever you like

We use:

  • 1 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 1 tbsp dried goji berries
  • 1 tbsp dried inca berries
  • 1 tbsp dried sunmuscats
  • 1 tbsp dried mulberries
  • 1 tbsp dried currants
  • 1 tbsp dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao nibs
  • 1 dried fig, cut
  • 1 passionfruit
  • 2 strawberries, cut

For each bowl

You can thank me later.
